How a Building Owner Went Off-Grid with Hybrid Solar and Wind Power

The owners of a four story office building in Adelaide, Australia have successfully completed the conversion of their office complex into a 100% self-sustaining energy system. The company that owns this innovative structure is Fluid Solar. With a combination of PV and thermal solar, plus wind turbines and traditional battery storage, they’ve been able to design as efficient an energy system as possible given current technologies. The energy storage capacity of their system is two megawatt hours (MWh), with a mix of 90% thermal and 10% lithium ion batteries. Not only is Fluid Solar able to generate more than enough electricity for their own operational needs, they use their excess electricity to power one of Tesla’s charging stations in a designated area.

The full article on how they accomplished this is here.

Our company (Blue Origin Solar) discusses opportunities with property owners every week on how to decrease their energy costs by converting to solar and/or a combination of solar and new technology battery storage (such as the current Vanadium Flow batteries which can bring battery generated electricity down to $0.05 per KWh at scale). Considering that the largest hurdle for most property owners and businesses in converting to solar power is the upfront cost, we eliminate that obstacle immediately with our innovative no money out-of-pocket solar program to make commercial grade solar available to every business entity. Essentially, we remove the most common point of friction and provide the opportunity to convert to solar powered electricity. We encourage any business and/or property owner interested in saving money on their electric bills to get in touch with us to find out if they qualify for our amazing program.
